The "Virginia Endurance Series" (VES) of FREE Backcountry Mountain Biking Events

The Virginia Endurance Series (VES), made up of FREE backcountry mountain biking events, is exactly like the Southwest Endurance Series following these rules.

VES events are FREE, dream-come-true, backcountry mountain biking, ultra-epic, hand crafted, all-day joy rides. VES events are self-supported and self-navigated, though of course people can ride and navigate together. Each route will be well detailed and published here on the VES website, and everyone can enjoy these adventures at their own pace. Some will use these events as fun training days, or try to set a course record, others will enjoy the challenge and adventure of simply trying to complete one or more of these ultra-epics with friends :)

4.7.13 Double Dawg Dare
>> Click the link in the events list for map & cue sheet (updated 4/5) >>
The ride combines two of this regions most well known classic race courses the Rowdy Dawg and Dirty Dawg. The ride is fully self supported so plan accordingly. The gas station at the 460/42 intersection at Newport is in route and is an option for refueling. Also, if open, the lodge at Mtn. Lake has vending machines, bring cash.

More details and map to come. Ride starting and finishing at Boley Fields. Arrival on Saturday will earn you a free night's camp spot and some good times near the campfire. If there is interest a ride of sorts can be organized for Saturday.

The date of this event is one week ahead of The Dragon's Tale race and the start of the WV Series, so in addition to DDD being incredible adventure and fun, it will also be fantastic training.

East Coasters has rented Boley Fields group camp site for Saturday and Sunday night, April 6-7. If you plan to camp bring some food for the grill for a nice potluck cookout.
